Doula, traditional midwife, registered nurse, public health nurse, women's health nurse practitioner, certified nurse-midwife, and Fellow of the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Has attended thousands of births, and still practices midwifery today. Scholarship and research activities have focused on interprofessional collaboration in perinatal care, and factors which promote normal physiological childbirth, including the midwifery model of care and midwifery care practices such as limited obstetrical ultrasound, hydrotherapy in labor and waterbirth.

Credentials alone can't convey a career spent actually present at birth, in multiple roles and in every setting it happens, home, hospital, birth center, and everything in between, across multiple countries and cultures. That unusual perspective informs every course and consultation here, not a single study, institutional protocol, or professional organization.

Great health care means respectful, individualized education and informed choice, since there is no single "correct" way to give birth and parent our children. Childbirth preparation and support should meet people wherever they are and provide the full range of evidence-based, safe and effective options available. That's the belief that every course and consultation builds on.

03 — Why This Platform Exists

One practice can only reach so many families.

Years of direct, one-on-one midwifery practice made the limit obvious: one health care provider can only reach a limited number of families at a time. In academia, that reach was extended through research and teaching with international recognition. This platform is an intentional effort to extend the reach even further and share the midwifery model of care directly with parents through evidence-based education, and by training the doulas, nurses, midwives, and other birth workers who will carry that same standard of excellence forward into their own work with new and growing families.

That same depth and breadth of experience informs families, providers, and attorneys seeking second opinions or expert witnesses. Jenna's experience includes working with new mothers seeking answers after childbirth didn't go as planned, aiding the attorneys for certified nurse-midwives in licensing and legal matters at the state and federal level, and clinical consulting for multiple federal agencies.

Jeffrey Novick, BS · Co-Founder and Director of Operations

The operations behind the care.

Jeff Novick has spent decades working across multiple non-profit community health settings, building the technology, billing, and operational systems that let clinical teams actually do their work, rather than fight their own infrastructure. That background powers Practice Systems & IT Services, now available directly to doulas and small midwifery practices.

He's also Jenna's husband of more than 20 years. This is a genuine shared project: her depth and breadth of knowledge combined with decades at the bedside, and his operational backbone built the same way, in the settings where this work actually happens.

Jeff has spent decades building technology, billing, and operational systems for community health nonprofits, and years teaching classes on male involvement in women's reproductive health and positive sexuality. He also wrote his Master's thesis in a human sexuality graduate program, focused on how reproductive health education shapes men's attitudes toward women. He's personally parented six newborns, hands-on experience he's now bringing to newborn care preparation content for dads and partners of pregnant persons.
